Local officers hit the ice to remember fallen Charleston Co. deputy

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Law enforcement officers from around the Lowcountry are lacing up their ice skates to remember one of their own.

A memorial hockey game to honor fallen Charleston County Deputy Joe Matuskovic is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at the North Charleston Coliseum,

The Charleston Enforcers will face off against the North American Blue Police hockey team. Both rosters are filled with area officers.

Matuskovic was fatally wounded while responding to a disturbance call at a West Ashley apartment complex on Sept. 8. His funeral, held on Sept. 15, was attended by more than 1,000 law enforcement officers from around the nation.

Tickets for the game are $10 for both games, with $5 from every ticket going to the Deputy Matuskovic Charity Fund.
