CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A retired United States Marine Corps lieutenant general spoke to Lowcountry students on Friday.

Lt. Gen. Ronald Coleman, who is only the second African-American Marine in the corps' history to reach the 3-star rank, addressed students at St. John's High School and the Military Magnet Academy.

Coleman discussed ways to show leadership in life.

"They can do anything they want to if they put their heart to it. That's what it's all about and making life better for them, for their family, and for their country," Coleman said.

He also shared tips to help kids stay in school.
