Judge dismisses lawsuit against Citadel involving Reville molestation case

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A Charleston County judge has dismissed a lawsuit against The Citadel involving convicted child predator Louis "Skip" Reville.

The lawsuit, filed by a parent of one of the many campers molested by Reville, was dropped Tuesday morning by a circuit court judge.

Dawes Cooke, a lawyer representing The Citadel, released the following statement:

The Citadel is pleased with the judge's decision; not only because of the substance of the ruling, but because it provides a way to answer the important legal issues that the case presents without first requiring the parties on both sides to endure a long and difficult trial.  We will not comment further on the merits of the case because it and other cases are still pending.

Reville is serving a 50 year prison term for molesting 23 boys in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties while he was a counselor at the Citadel and a coach and teacher at Pinewood Preparatory School in Summerville.
