Firefighters investigating early morning fire on King Street

The Charleston Fire Marshal is investigating an early morning fire Thursday on King Street.

According to a spokesman for the Charleston Fire Department, firefighters were called out just after 1 a.m. to the area of 1400 King Street. When units arrived, smoke was venting from a commercial building across the street from the Charleston Fire Department Headquarters.

Crews were able to get into the building and get the fire under control by 1:30 a.m., officials say.

No injuries have been reported. No word on the extent of the damage.
