BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - Representatives of the offshore drilling industry will join conservation group for a forum being held in Beaufort.
The event is scheduled for Thursday, and is sponsored by the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce in Beaufort.
This week, the Obama administration said it was including a wide swath off the coast of the Carolinas in an area that could be opened to offshore drilling by the end of the decade.
Hamilton Davis of the South Carolina Coastal Conservation League is one of the speakers, and his group opposes exploring for and drilling for oil offshore of South Carolina.
The forum also features Lewis Gossett, president and CEO of the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance, a group representing manufacturers across the state.
