CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say a 57-year-old Charleston man died after being struck by a car on King Street Saturday night.
Reginald Jenkins died of blunt force trauma, according to the Charleston Coroner's Office.
Jenkins was one of two pedestrians struck in the incident at approximately 6:45 p.m., according to Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis. Jenkins was knocked into a lane of King Street and was then struck by a second vehicle and later died at the hospital, Francis said.
The second victim also suffered severe injuries, according to the incident report, but his condition Monday afternoon was unknown.
The area of King Street near Carolina Street was closed off temporarily as the department's Major Accident Investigation Team investigated the scene, witnesses say.
Police are investigating the accident, but say no charges were filed against either motorist.
