JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -

The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified a 21-year-old man who died Wednesday morning following a wreck in Johns Island.

Brian Fowler-Rusch, from Johns Island, died from injuries sustained in Wednesday's single-vehicle accident, according to Deputy Coroner Kimberly Rhoton.

Charleston County deputies say the accident occurred around 1 a.m. in the area Chisolm Road and Humbert Road.

According to officials, a white Ford Excursion was on Chisolm Road heading toward Humbert Road when the vehicle left the road, traveled 560 feet, and struck a tree. Fowler-Rusch, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Chisolm Road was shut down for a few hours as crews responded to the scene.

The wreck is under investigation.
