Emergency workers, Marines conduct anti-terror training

PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - Marine personnel are joining emergency agencies from Beaufort County at Parris Island for an anti-terrorism training exercise.

Thursday's exercise involves helicopters landing and taking off, simulated weapons fire and ambulances entering and leaving the Marine Corps Training Depot.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says in a release the exercise involves, in addition to Marines, local deputies as well as the county coroner and county emergency medical services workers.

Beaufort Memorial Hospital personnel and agencies from Parris Island are also taking part.
