DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Dorchester County coroner says an 18-year-old woman who died in a car accident in Summerville Thursday afternoon was pregnant at the time of the fatal crash.

Coroner Chris Nisbet said Brionna Burnell died from blunt force trauma.

Burnell was five months pregnant, according to Nisbet.

Nisbet says Burnell was driving north on Delemar Highway when she crossed the center line. She over corrected her car which then rolled, and she was ejected.

She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Nisbet said Burnell was not wearing a seatbelt and her ejection led to the fatal injuries.

The Highway Patrol says in 2014, there were 248 traffic collisions on Delemar Highway the one fatality.

So far in 2015, there have been 20 collisions on that road with one fatality, the one that happened yesterday.

Some folks who live on Delemar Highway say the road is dangerous with lots of speeders.

"I actually had a truck a few days ago pass my car and the car in front of me, passed both cars at the same time, going probably 70, 80 miles per hour," resident Jessica Spigner said.

Investigators have not said if speed may have been a factor in Burnell's death.
