CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close two eastbound lanes of I-26 over the weekend as crews continue repairs to the Baker Hospital Road overpass.
The repairs began last weekend near mile marker 217, just east of the Cosgrove interchange, to repair deteriorating concrete and ensure the overpass remains safe, SCDOT officials say.
The left and center lanes of eastbound I-26 will close from approximately 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday. At least one lane will remain open at all time.
The SCDOT warns motorists traveling in the area to use caution in the work zone, expect delays and consider alternate routes if possible.
The project will continue over the next few weekends, weather permitting, authorities say.
