CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

A 45-year-old woman is behind bars after police say she stabbed a man with a pocket knife following an argument early Monday morning.

Jacqueline Keli Crosland was arrested Monday and charged with criminal domestic violence high and aggravated nature.

Charleston police were called out to a residence on Parkway Drive on James Island around 2:30 a.m. for a reported aggravated assault.

An incident report states officers arrived to find the victim on the front porch with blood covering the upper left side of his shirt.

The victim reportedly told police he and Crosland got into a verbal altercation at approximately 2 a.m. He says Crosland first threatened to hit him, but then said she would stab him instead. The report states Crosland stabbed the victim in the upper left chest with a pocket knife, and then fled the scene in a vehicle.

The victim was transported to MUSC for treatment.

Police say they made contact with Crosland at Sunoco on Maybank Highway, where she was arrested and transported to MUSC. She was later transferred to the Charleston County Detention Center.
