CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Classes at West Ashley Middle School have been canceled Monday due to a power outage, according to the Charleston County School District.
Erica Taylor with CCSD says parents who dropped their children off at school Monday morning should return to take their kids home. Children riding the bus will be returned to their bus stops.
All students who walk to school will be accounted for at the school, and then sent home, Taylor says.
SCE&G official say a contractor truck collided with a power pole in front of the school along William Kennerty Drive, resulting in an outage for 1,600 customers in the area.
The same power pole was hit by a school bus on January 30, causing the school to dismiss early.
