CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Lowcountry will get a taste of spring on Thursday before winter returns in full force by Friday.
"This will be the first of two arctic cold fronts to affect the region over the weekend," Meteorologist Justin Lock says. "Temperatures will be averaging 20 degrees below average from Friday through President's Day."
But before the cold rushes in Thursday night, Lock says temperatures will surge into the mid-60s this afternoon along with very strong winds. Winds will gust to as high as 35 mph possibly making for a tough afternoon commute.
Low temperatures will fall into the 20s from Friday morning through Monday morning with wind chills each day starting in the teens. Milder weather is set to return by the middle of next week along with some rain.
