A former Walterboro Public Safety Department officer has been charged after guns and money were found missing from an evidence locker.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged 45-year-old Stephanie Grant Bridge with misconduct in office. SLED investigated the case at the request of the Walterboro Public Safety Department.
According to court records, between January 2010 through November 2014, Grant was the sole evidence custodian for an evidence locker.
An inventory conducted by SLED in November 2014 revealed that at least three handguns were missing from the locker.
Further investigation showed $10,974 were also missing from the locker.
An affidavit states Bridge used her position to gain access and remove items from the evidence locker which she converted to her personal gain.
The case will be prosecuted by the 14th Circuit Solicitor's Office.
