COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A winter storm warning is in effect for western South Carolina counties beginning Monday morning and going into Tuesday evening.

The National Weather Service issued the warning for Cherokee, Spartanburg, Greenville, Pickens and northern Oconee counties. The warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice are possible.

In Anderson, snow, freezing rain, sleet and rain are forecast for Monday morning, with the mixture switching to rain and sleet in the afternoon. The wintry mix is likely to fall Monday night with a slight chance of more precipitation Tuesday.

Monday's forecast in Rock Hill calls for snow and sleet switching to freezing rain and sleet Monday night, then to all freezing rain.

Greenville residents may see snow and sleet Monday, while freezing rain is likely Monday night.
