DANIEL ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley joined hundreds Tuesday, welcoming a new building to Benefitfocus' Charleston headquarters.
The software company, based on Daniel Island, serves up to 23 million customers.
The new state-of-the-art Benefitfocus Customer Success Center, which stands four-stories tall, and spans 145,800 square feet, has room for 750 associates, with 500 employed there currently.
It's the third building to be added to the Charleston headquarters, as part of a multi-phase expansion expected to bring 1,200 new jobs to the lowcountry.
"This is a company that we're going to hear about for a long time and the fact that they are headquartered here in Charleston is a huge feather in our cap when it comes to South Carolina," Governor Haley said.
