Weekend repairs to a small stretch of I-26 heading out of downtown Charleston will result in lane closures and possible traffic delays.
Beginning Friday at 8 p.m., the SC Department of Transportation will close two of the three westbound lanes of the interstate in the area of Mile Marker 217 for repairs to the Baker Hospital Road Overpass. The right and center lanes are expected to be reopened by 5 a.m. Monday.
Crews will be continuing repairs that began last month where concrete on the overpass has deteriorated. The previous repairs involved the eastbound lanes.
DOT says motorists can expect extended traffic delays and suggest drivers use alternate routes.
This is the final of three weekends of scheduled repairs at this location.
