DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office say two students will be facing charges in connection to a threat about a potential shooting at Ashley Ridge High School.
Authorities say both students will both be charged with disturbing schools.
Dorchester District 2 officials said an investigation into a threat regarding a possible shooting at Ashley Ridge determined the threat was made as a joke, and is "not credible."
DCSO investigated the situation Wednesday night after a student reportedly made a threat that a shooting would occur at Ashley Ridge on Thursday.
According to a release from the school district, deputies identified the student, who admitted to officers that he made the threat but was "joking with a friend."
The sheriff's office has determined the threat is not credible.
District officials say additional law enforcement would be on campus Thursday morning to reassure parents and students the campus is safe.
