Comedian Bill Maher to play the Performing Arts Center in August

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Controversial political commentator and comedian Bill Maher is coming to the North Charleston Performing Arts Center this summer.

The PAC will host "An Evening with Bill Maher" on Saturday, August 8 at 8 p.m. Tickets for stand-up show go on sale Friday, March 6 at 10 a.m.

Getting his start as a stand-up comic in 1979, Maher parlayed his brutally honest, brazen persona into a career in political commentary. He was the host of Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher from 1993 to 2002, and later became the host of Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO.

With 34 Emmy nominations under his belt, Maher picked up his first Emmy in 2014 as executive producer for the HBO series, "Vice." Oh, and he is also a writer, penning two New York Times Bestsellers.

Despite his busy television and writing career, Maher continues to perform stand-up, performing at least 50 shows a year in Las Vegas in addition to shows across the country.

Tickets for his August show at the Performing Arts Center range from $67.50 to $78.50, plus taxes and fees. For more information on tickets, click here.
