Traffic back to normal on Hwy. 162 in Hollywood after school bus accident

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Charleston County Sheriff's Office officials say traffic is back to normal on Highway 162 in Hollywood after a school bus went into a ditch attempting to turn around in the roadway.

The bus was blocking traffic in both directions of Highway 162 near Chaplins Landing Road.

The bus's rear tire entered the ditch and the bus became stuck shortly before 3 p.m., according to Charleston County Sheriff's Maj. Eric Watson.

There were a total of 20 students on the bus at the time of the mishap, Watson said. Neither the students nor the driver were injured, but EMS responded to the scene as a precaution.

The bus was coming from Baptist Hill High School and was in the process of dropping students off.

Those students were transferred to another bus to be taken home.
