Investigators charge two for murder in connection to fatal Kingstree fire

WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators have charged two people for murder in connection to a fatal Kingstree fire that took the life of a 65-year-old man.

The Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office arrested Theodore L. Mcknight and Brittany I. McCrea and charged them with murder, second-degree arson, second-degree assault and battery, armed robbery, criminal conspiracy, and possession of a knife during a violent crime.

The early Sunday morning fire happened on Starburst Avenue and took the life of 65-year-old Charles Wilson.

Williamsburg County Fire Chief Randy Swinton said on Tuesday that Wilson was murdered.  According to fire officials, Wilson was found sitting in a chair in his den.

On Sunday, deputies responded to a structure fire on 5 Starburst Avenue where authorities were told by Chief Swinton that a burnt body was found inside the home.

According to investigators, there appeared to be something suspicious about the burnt remains.

After a further investigation, law enforcement officials say they were able to conclude that Wilson was the victim of a murder.

The victim received several lacerations to the upper torso area, according to a report.
