NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - North Charleston Police are investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital.
Officers say they responded to reports of shots fired in the 3300-block of Glenhaven Shores, off Ashley Phosphate Road, around 11p.m. Tuesday night.
When the responding officer arrived, he found a man staggering around in a front yard. The officer said he saw blood on the victim's shirt from the left shoulder and stomach area.
The victim told police that he needed medical attention because he had been shot several times. The officer then retrieved his medical aid kit and helped the victim.
EMS arrived on scene, treated the victim and transported him to MUSC.
An NCPD report states the officer attempted to ask the victim about the incident, but the victim refused to answer any questions or give any statements.
Witnesses told investigators a passenger in a car fired several shots before fleeing the area.
Police continue to investigate.
