CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County School District has announced March 27th will be the winter weather make up day for Charleston County students.
However, some teachers are speaking out about how they're going to make the day up, that was missed on February 24 due to winter weather.
Acting superintendent, Michael Bobby, approved a new guideline in early January about how to employees will make up time after a snow day.
It says every teacher eligible for sick or personal days must use one, if school is canceled because of weather.
Patrick Hayes, a CCSD teacher, tells us that many teachers are "appalled" at the thought of using their paid personal days for it.
There is also an option to make up the time with extra hours, according to Bill Briggman, Executive Director of Human Resources for CCSD.
School board member Michael Miller told Live 5 he thinks a good option is to allow teachers to log their overtime and use it towards the missed day.
Briggman said the school board will to decide how to make up snow days at their upcoming meeting Monday.
