CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office will open its work camp facility Friday afternoon as a warming shelter as temperatures are expected to drop into the upper 20s for parts of the Lowcountry overnight.
The facility, located at 3841 Leeds Ave. across from the Al Cannon Detention Center, will open at 3 p.m. Friday and remain open through Sunday, according to Charleston County Sheriff's Maj. Eric Watson.
The National Weather Service issued a freeze warning for Beaufort, Coastal Colleton, Charleston and tidal Berkeley Counties starting at 11 p.m. Friday. That warning will expire at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
Temperatures inland will dip to between the upper 20s to lower 30s just inland from the beaches.
