3 Berkeley Co. schools go on temporary lockdown during nearby pursuit

MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) - Three Berkeley County schools went on an administrative lockdown Monday afternoon as deputies pursued a wanted person near the campus, a district spokesperson said.

Westview Primary, Westview Elementary and Westview Middle Schools went on lockdown from approximately 12 p.m. until 12:15 p.m. as a precautionary measure, Berkeley County School District spokesman Chip Sturgis said.

"There was no direct threat to any of the schools and they have all returned to their regular schedule," Sturgis said.

Berkeley County Chief Deputy Rick Ollic said deputies chased and caught a suspect who had an outstanding warrant.
