NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Bond was set at $250,000 for a 16-year-old accused of attempting to fire a gun several times to kill a friend.
The suspect, an 11th grade student at Garrett Academy, was in bond court Tuesday afternoon and charged with attempted murder.
His charges stem from a Feb. 2 incident on Florida Avenue where the suspect and victim were involved in a fight.
Court documents state after the two were separated, the suspect left the area and returned 10 to 15 minutes later armed with a silver revolver which he pointed at the victim.
The victim said as he began to run away, the suspect tripped him.
According to an affidavit, the suspect then put his gun to the victim's head and pulled the trigger several times, however the gun did not fire.
The victim said as he managed to get away, he heard the suspect cursing at the gun for not firing, saying,"theses guns always jam."
Investigators say the victim and the suspect had been friends for some time.
