Mount Pleasant police say a 26-year-old woman who had not been in contact with her family for several weeks has been found safe.
The woman, who had last been known to be living in the Dunes West subdivision with her boyfriend, was located Thursday in California, according to Mount Pleasant Police Inspector Chip Googe.
Her mother told police she last heard from her daughter, in a Feb. 27 email in which the daughter said she felt "lost and alone." Her mother also said several of her friends told her they had received the same message.
Her mother told police she last saw her daughter in person on Feb. 15.
