Authorities ask public's help to identify suspected child predator

RALEIGH, NC (WCSC) - The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) is seeking the public's help to identify a man they say was captured on video sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl.

HSI Raleigh and Harnett County Sheriff's Office investigators believe the man in the video may be using the name Peter Gilbert and may be driving a white pickup truck. He is a white male, between 40 and 50 years of age, with a medium to heavy build, investigators say.

Authorities say the suspect appears in a child pornography video seized as part of the investigation into Bailey Mills, a Sanford, N.C., man convicted of multiple sex offenses involving children.

Elizabeth Mills, Bailey's wife, identified the man in the video as Peter Gilbert, but HSI Raleigh special agents believe that name is an alias and request the public's assistance in finding him.

In addition to public appeals, HSI Raleigh distributed information and photos to fellow law enforcement agencies and to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, in a unified effort to identify the suspect.

Investigators say no one should try to capture the suspect personally. Anyone who recognizes him should contact HSI toll free at (866) 347-2423 or via email with HSI's online tip form: http://www.ice.gov/webform/hsi-tip-form

All tips will remain confidential.
