NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A family of two escaped a house fire late Wednesday morning in North Charleston.

Crews responded to a single-story duplex on Napoleon Drive at approximately 11:04 a.m. and reported a heavy amount of fire coming from the right front side of the home, according to North Charleston Fire Department spokesman Bianca Bourbeau.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the original home, but there was some smoke damage to the adjoining unit, Bourbeau said.

Fire personnel from North Charleston, Ashley River and St. Andrews Fire departments responded.

The specific cause of the fire is under investigation.
