N. Charleston police continue search for gunman in Friday night shooting

Man injured following shooting in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police officers continue the search for a suspect seen running from the scene after a man was shot in North Charleston Friday evening.

Shortly before 6 p.m., North Charleston police officers responded to a call of shots fired on Bream Road and Edith Street.

Officers reported locating a male victim lying on the ground and suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to MUSC for treatment.

According to witnesses, a black male was seen running from the scene wearing all black clothing.

A gray sedan was also seen fleeing the area with a black male driver, police say.

Witnesses reported officers had taped off an area of Bream Road as crews processed that scene. Along with police officers, K-9 units were also called in to assist in the search, witnesses said.

Neighbors say the area is typically a quiet neighborhood.

The incident remains under investigation.
