CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - It's a lot like a real-life Cinderella story.
For one day only, volunteers transformed John Wesley United Methodist Church, on Savannah Highway, into a beautiful boutique lined with hundreds of free prom dresses.
It's all part of the Charleston Cinderella Project, an effort that started 15 years ago, and is designed to offer the full prom experience to high school girls who may not have been able to afford it.
Hundreds packed the Charleston church Saturday, sorting through bedazzled gowns, studded shoes, along with accessories and cosmetics.
The Charleston Cinderella Project runs entirely on donations, and is organized by area volunteers over several months.
