GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - The Goose Creek Police Department is on the lookout for a male subject who broke into a home and assaulted a 19-year-old man Tuesday morning.
At 10:45 a.m., officers responded to a home on Belleplaine Drive for a reported home invasion.
When officers arrived, they found the victim was suffering from facial injuries consistent with a physical fight.
The victim said he was in the shower when he heard an unusual noise in the house. When the victim went to investigate, he said he found an unknown clean-shaven white male subject rummaging through a dresser drawer.
According to police, the victim confronted the suspect which led to a physical altercation.
Police say during the fight, the victim offered money to end the altercation. The victim said he then fled to a bedroom, locked the door and called the police.
The suspect then left the home.
The victim was treated on scene for his facial injuries.
GCPD officials say the method of entry the suspect used to get in is under investigation. The victim is taking an inventory of the home to determine what, if anything, was taken.
Investigators were told that a small pickup truck with a loud muffler was seen in the area before the incident occurred.
