BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Former Berkeley County sheriff Wayne DeWitt is appealing to get his driver's license reinstated.
DeWitt, who was arrested last December on DUI charges, was in a Goose Creek courtroom Tuesday morning for a hearing on his license, but the hearing was canceled at the request of his attorney.
After his arrest, DeWitt refused to take a breath test and automatically lost his license.
It will be up to the judge to decide if the former sheriff gets his license back.
DeWitt is under indictment for DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to stop for a blue light.
No trial date has been set.
