CCSO: Man stabbed 5 times after altercation with family member

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County deputies say an Edisto Island man was hospitalized Thursday night with five stab wounds following an altercation with his brother.

Officers say the victim was transported to MUSC with multiple stab wounds after being dropped off at Medic Station 8 on Highway 174 around 8:30 p.m.

According to an incident report, the victim told deputies he had been in an altercation with a family member in the area of Steamboat Landing Road, but would not say who stabbed him or where exactly the incident occurred.

Deputies say the victim was stabbed five times with a screw driver: Once in the left bicep, twice under the left arm, once in the lower left abdomen, and once int he chest.

An investigation into the stabbing revealed the incident began as an argument over beer and money between the victim and his brother while they were working on a vehicle, the reports states.

Officers say a witness at the scene told deputies the victim slammed the driver's door on his brother's and began to push on it. At that time, the suspect grabbed a long screw driver and swung back towards the victim, stabbing him five times, the witness said.

Deputies say the victim was uncooperative with the investigation, and no charges have been filed.
