Two arrested in connection to Walterboro shooting that left 1 dead, several injured

COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Colleton County Sheriff's Office has arrested two people in connection to a deadly 2014 shooting that killed one man and injured several people. 

Investigators arrested 22-year-old Javonte Laron Johnson and 23-year-old Charlie Edward Martin wanted for probation violations and obstruction of justice warrants in connection to a deadly shooting in September of 2014 in Walterboro. 

Deputies and agents with the US Marshals Office apprehended Johnson Friday morning, and arrested Martin on Thursday. 

Both are locked up on a $50,000 bond for the obstruction of justice warrants. 

According to investigators in Colleton County, the Sept. 28, 2014 shooting was gang-related based on the information gathered from interviews of various victims and witnesses.

The shooting occurred at a home on Sandy Dam Lane. 

Deputies say they found multiple gunshot victims and spent ammunition inside the home. According to authorities, the shooters went inside the home and opened fire. 

Elijah Mikel, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting, according to the Colleton County Coroner's Office. 

Officials said the victims were all taken to area hospitals.
