Thousands will be running the 10K on Saturday. Others, they'll be sitting in traffic.
Starting in Mount Pleasant. Coleman Boulevard's Northbound lanes will be shut down at 4:30 Saturday morning. That closure will span from Whiden Street to Chuck Dawley. Just two hours later, Southbound lanes from Whiden Street to Houston North Cutt will be closed. The Ravenel Bridge will be shut down at 7 in the morning, clearing the way for runners to cross the Cooper River. It's expected to reopen by 11 a.m.
Downtown, portions of popular roads for tourists will also be shut down. The race route travels up Meeting Street and onto King Street. Those roads will be closed starting at 7 this morning. Race participants will end up at the Finish Line, which will be near the intersection of George Street and Meeting Street. Those roads should open again to traffic around 2 in the afternoon.
Moving to the Flowertown Festival Saturday in Summerville. The festivities kick off at 9 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. You can expect Main Street to be shut down during that time.
On James Island, the Cajun Festival is at the County Park Sunday from 12-6 p.m. Traffic jams are always an issue along Riverland drive, so organizers are encouraging you to get there early.
Another popular tourist area will see closures tomorrow because the Carnival Fantasy will be docking. From 11 in the morning until about 4 in the afternoon, a small portion of Concord Street will be closed. That will begin at North Marktet Street, where the City Market ends, and stretch up to Hassel Street. Drivers are encouraged to use Calhoun and Laurens Streets.
