The Arthur Ravenel Bridge is reopen following Saturday morning's 38th Annual Cooper River Bridge Run, and the rest of the route is reopening as runners and walkers complete the race.

Mount Pleasant police confirmed the bridge was open in both lanes shortly before 11 a.m. The southbound lanes reopened at approximately 10:45 a.m.

Charleston police also confirmed the Coast Guard safety zone that prevented boat traffic from passing below the bridge has ended.

All of King Street reopened shortly after 12:30pm, according to Charleston police. The last remaining portions of the race route to reopen were Calhoun Street between East Bay and St. Philip Streets and Meeting Street between Hudson and Society Streets, police say.

The bridge was closed in both directions shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday, with portions of downtown Charleston and Mount Pleasant closed to traffic earlier so that some 40,000 athletes could race from Mount Pleasant across the bridge into downtown Charleston for the annual event.
