BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Rescue Squad searched Monday afternoon for a person who was believed to have jumped off a bridge into the water at the Rediversion Canal just outside of St. Stephen.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Marine Patrol Unit also responded to the area, which is just north of St. Stephen along Highway 52, at approximately 3:15 p.m., according to Charleston County Sheriff's Maj. Eric Watson.
That canal runs from Lake Moultrie to the Santee River, Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury said.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any sign of a victim was found.
Traffic in the area was not affected by the search, authorities said.
