GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Seventeen nurses at the Prince George Nursing Home in Georgetown voted to join the Steelworkers Union.
The vote was conducted in early March but the ballot box was impounded during a challenge to the vote, according to local union spokesman James Sanderson. He said the company argued some of the nurses were in supervisory positions.
The National Labor Relations Board confirmed the vote to join the union was unanimous.
More than 80 workers at the nursing home, including certified nursing assistants, maintenance workers, dietary workers and secretaries already belong to the union.
