Charleston Police Department hosting Twitter Town Hall meetings

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The Charleston Police Department announced Monday it will begin hosting a monthly town hall meeting via social media to give the community a new way to interact with law enforcement.

The first Twitter Town Hall meeting will be held Thursday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Each Town Hall will be topical in nature, with the first meeting centered on domestic and family violence.

“Using Twitter to conduct a public forum is a new way for us to further connect citizens with their police department,” Police Chief Greg Mullen said in a statement.

Twitter users are invited to submit their questions to the police department on the day of the Town Hall by sending tweets to the department's handle, @CharlestonPD or by using the hashtag #DFV.
