MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) -
Many Duke alumni from the Duke Club of Charleston came out to Mount Pleasant Monday night to cheer on their favorite team for the NCCA Championship.
Usually, Sparian's in Mount Pleasant is packed with bowlers, but Monday night, it was all about college basketball.
"It's the best time of the year, especially for a Duke alumni," said Duke fan Dan Winters.
It wasn't just a random group of people watching the game. It's an alumni organization called the Duke Club of Charleston. They come together every year during March Madness and watch the games at Sparian's. They say it has been a tradition for years.
"We have alumni from 30 years ago to recent grads. It's a lot of fun," said Duke fan John Camball.
"It's great to be back with guys from my generation, but also to mix it in with folks who are a little younger," said Duke fan Scott Wells.
Even the kids were cheering along their favorite team.
"It's mult-generational. It's a lot of fun. The kids are learning how adults can get very expressive and be very emotional about a game," said Camball.
"It's very much like a family. We stick together," said Winters.
English Bryant came all of the way from San Diego just to watch the Duke game in Mount Pleasant with her old friends.
"We love Duke. We've been watching Duke for 25 years. It's the most awesome team ever," said Bryant.
"The games are a blast. It's one of the perks in going to Duke," said Camball.
