(RNN) – CBS News anchor Bob Schieffer is retiring after a half-century career in journalism.
CBS News announced Wednesday that Schieffer, who hosts the Sunday morning public affairs show Face the Nation, will retire this summer.
He has been with the network 46 years.
Before joining CBS, he worked at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, according to his CBS News biography.
He is the recipient of eight Emmys, as well as the Edward R. Murrow Award.
Schieffer is a graduate of Texas Christian University, which named its journalism school after him.
