GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - The city of Goose Creek will be holding its thirtieth annual Bike-A-Thon this Saturday to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. St. Jude currently treats more than forty children from South Carolina.
The event begins at 9 a.m. at the lake and hiker-biker trail behind Goose Creek City Hall, located on N Goose Creek Blvd.
To show their support, police cadets will be riding, in addition to sponsoring other riders.
“The general plan is to have a good time while helping a wonderful group of children and families counting on our support," said Chief Harvey Becker of the Goose Creek Police Department. “Our police cadets share the dream of the hospital's founder, the late Danny Thomas, that ‘no child should have to die of cancer or other catastrophic diseases.'”
Becker is also the coordinator of the event.
Bike-A-Thon riders will receive prizes according to how much money they raise, including St. Jude t-shirts, sling totes, and blankets.
