NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) -  A "People's March & Rally for Truth & Transparency" has been announced for today by The Coalition - People United To Take Back Our Community.

Participants plan to gather at 4 p.m. on Rivers Ave and begin the march at 4:30 p.m., proceeding down Mall Drive to the North Charleston City Hall.

Officials with The Coalition say they are expected to be joined by the National Action Network, the Charleston Branch of the NAACP, BlackLivesMatter, the Charleston Chapter of SC Progressive Network, and Fight For 15.

The march is in response to the shooting and killing of Walter Scott in a police-involved incident in North Charleston last weekend.

The Coalition has called for the march and rally to be peaceful.

A prayer service and candlelight vigil has been scheduled to take place at sunset.
