Charleston RiverDogs invites kids for special opening day

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The official Charleston RiverDogs Kids Opening Day will take place on Sunday, following the launch of the 2015 season on Thursday.

The kids will be running the show at Riley Park, where they will take over the box office, public address system, and radio. They will also have the opportunity to sit in for the general manager duties of Dave Echols, paint a free picture at the park, and participate in a LEGO building tutorial.

Free Opening Day youth t-shirts will be awaiting the first 1,000 kids to enter the park.

After the game, the team will be available for free autographs.

Tomorrow will be free parking and kids eat free.

Every Sunday home game of the season is also a free parking day, and kids age 12 and under eat for free with a coupon for a hot dog, fountain drink, and chips.

Gates open at 4 p.m, and the game begins at 5:05 p.m.

At Sunday's game, the Charleston Jazz Orchestra's Swingin' BANDits will be performing the pregame National Anthem, and "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" during the seventh-inning stretch.
