CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Funeral services will be held Monday for Charleston Police Sergeant George Hildebidle.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at Seacoast Church, located at 2049 Savannah Highway.
Police say Hildebidle took his own life Thursday after barricading himself inside a home in Grand Oaks Plantation for several hours following a reported domestic situation.
Charleston Police Chief Gregg Mullen said Hildebidle had worked for the department for more than 12 years, and was married with two children.
"He was a great officer, I've worked with him for almost nine years and he was a great sergeant to this community. He's done wonderful things for not only the community, but for his co-workers and we're certainly going to miss him," Mullen said.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating Hildebidle's death.
