MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) -  It's growing into a sweet weekend in Mount Pleasant. The Lowcountry Strawberry Festival started on Thursday and continues through Sunday, April 19.

The event, hosted by Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens, features entertainment for the whole family.

The Strawberry U-Pick Fields are open during event daytime hours, with tractor rides to and from the fields.

Several new attractions will be joining the festival. The acrobatic dogs of "K-9's In Flight" are jumping straight from television to the Lowcountry's very own back yard. The Rockin' A Ranch Petting Zoo also makes its debut. Pony rides will be available for $4.

Returning to the Strawberry Festival this year are pig races, live music, carnival rides, a three story slide tower, recipe contests, pie eating contests, the Miss Berry Princess contest, games, and vendor displays.

Admission is $7 ages 12 and up, and $5 for ages 3-11. Children 2 and under are admitted free with an accompanying adult.

The Festival is open on Friday from 3-11 p.m., on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The event is located 1/2 mile north of Long Point Rd. at 2330 N. Hwy. 17, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. 29466
