CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Power has been restored in the Lowcountry after several were left in the dark following powerful thunderstorms that moved through the area Sunday night.
At one point, more than 2,000 customers in the Tri-County were offline, with the majority of the outages being in North Charleston.
SCE&G spokesman Eric Boomhower said 13 separate incidents, which might include lightning strikes and branches that toppled power lines, contributed to the Charleston County outages.
Roughly 3,300 outages were reported statewide, down from between five to eight thousand earlier. Aiken County was particularly hard hit by storms, Boomhower said.
