N. Charleston police searching for suspect following bank robbery

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Authorities are investigating a bank robbery in North Charleston Monday afternoon. 

North Charleston police say it happened at the First Citizens Bank on 2170 Ashley Phosphate Road. 

Shortly before 5 p.m., a man entered the bank and presented a note to a teller demanding money; police say no weapon was produced during the incident. 

The suspect fled the bank with an undetermined amount, and was last seen crossing Ashley Phosphate Road towards Dunlap Street.

Investigators describe the suspect as a black male, 5'5” to 5'8”, 250 to 300 pounds and having a very muscular build, wearing black pants, white shirt, sunglasses and a construction type “dust mask” on his face.
