JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - It's a heavily traveled road that's often highly congested. On Thursday evening, the public is invited to give suggestions on what improvements should be made to Folly Road.
Thursday's meeting starts at 7 p.m. and will go until 8:30 at the Lowcountry Senior Center, located at 865 Riverland Drive. It's the first of a series of meetings.
Local Council of Government, often called COG, just approved $400,000 to fund the meetings and jumpstart the process.
With the money, an urban planning consultant is being hired to host the meetings and draft a plan. That plan is expected to be in place by the end of summer.
Several groups are involved in this process, including leaders from Charleston County, City of Charleston, James Island, the Town of Folly Beach, SC Department of Transportation and CARTA.
